There are three kind of limits in poker determining the minimum and maximum height of the opening and raising during bidding.
The game without limits – called No Limit (NL)
In this type of game the minimum opening or raising is as large as amount of big blind but the puncture can not be lower than the previous bet made in the same round of betting. There is no fixed upper limit of the bet which means that the player by opening the bidding or raising the previous person bet can always put all their stacks. The game has no limit of raises.
Limit the pool game – called Pot Limit (PL)
In this type of game the minimum opening or raise is as large as amount of big blind but the raise can not be lower than the previous bet made in the same round of betting. The upper limit of the opening bid is the actual amount of the pot. To determine the upper limit of raise made bet first offset this bet is done and then you can do the maximum amount of raise of the current bet. The game does not have limit of the raises.
The game with a fixed limit – called Fixed Limit (Fixed)
In this type of game the amount of all bets and their quantity is strictly defined. Before and after the flop all bets you can do are as large as amount of big blind. After the turn and the river all bets are the equivalent of a large of double big blind. There is a limit to a maximum of four bets in this game. It includes the opening of the betting and three successive punctures.
Some games are played in mixed mode where you can periodically change the limit of the game. They are the games without limit and with a fixed limit but it must be remembered that in the transition from variety NL to variety Fixed blinds are reduced by half.
